Caboodle’s new flagship destination in The Galleria on Al Maryah Island provides children with a safe play environment that is fun yet educational. The indoor space is made up of different play zones that encourage children to explore and develop, and it boasts a hair salon and cafe.
To complement the fun, friendly and colourful interior and increase visual interest the lighting design includes luminaires of different shapes and sizes. By introducing a mix of flexible track lights, diffused round lights and slotted linear lights we were able to create an element of playfulness to supplement the interior design.
Being a play space for children, health and safety was a top priority throughout the design process. So, while the lighting scheme is playful it also meets the required lux levels (i.e. the amount of illumination) for safe play and activities.
To complete the indoor space, smaller, linear lighting elements were integrated into joinery and shelving and decorative luminaires were used in the cafe area, creating a layer of accent and feature light.
